MTN Zambia Teams Up with Starlink to Bring Better Internet to Businesses

MTN Zambia has partnered with Starlink to offer satellite internet services across the country. This partnership will help businesses get fast and reliable internet, especially in remote areas where regular internet services don’t work well.

The Deal

The new deal makes MTN Zambia an official reseller of Starlink’s satellite internet service. Companies can now get high-speed internet no matter where they are located in Zambia. This is especially good news for:

  • Businesses in rural areas
  • Companies with offices in remote locations
  • Government offices in underserved regions
  • NGOs working in hard-to-reach places

MTN Zambia CEO Abbad Reda said the partnership shows their commitment to closing the digital gap in Zambia.

“We are bringing reliable, high-speed internet to every corner of the country,” he explained.

How It Works

Customers can buy Starlink equipment directly from MTN Zambia’s retail stores. The company will also provide:

  • Professional installation services
  • Local customer support
  • Dedicated account managers for business clients
  • Ongoing technical assistance

This makes it easier for businesses to get connected without having to deal with complicated setup processes on their own.

Why This Partnership Matters

Zambia has struggled with poor internet connectivity in many areas. Traditional internet services often don’t reach remote locations or provide unreliable connections. Starlink uses satellites in space to deliver internet, which means it can reach places where regular internet cables can’t go.

The partnership supports the Zambian government’s plan to improve digital services across the country. Better internet access helps businesses grow, improves education, and connects more people to online services.

Starlink’s Growth in Africa

This deal comes at a time when Starlink is expanding very quickly across Africa. The company now operates in 19 African countries and plans to reach 26 more by the end of 2026.

Recently, Starlink has:

  • Launched services in the Democratic Republic of Congo
  • Started discussions with Uganda’s government
  • Partnered with Airtel Africa to serve 14 countries

MTN Zambia joins other companies selling Starlink services in the region, including Paratus Group and Jumia.

The Technology Behind It

Starlink uses low Earth orbit satellites to provide internet services. This technology offers several advantages:

  • Fast internet speeds
  • Low delay times (low latency)
  • Works in remote areas
  • Doesn’t need traditional internet cables

The service is designed to work well for businesses that need reliable internet to operate effectively.

What’s Next

The partnership will help more Zambian businesses stay connected and competitive. Companies that previously struggled with poor internet can now access the same quality of service as businesses in major cities.

This move is part of a larger trend of African telecom companies partnering with satellite internet providers to improve connectivity across the continent.

For businesses interested in the service, they can contact MTN Zambia through their retail outlets or speak with dedicated account managers about Starlink Business packages.
