Konga has launched the 2026 edition of its Mid-Year Shopping Festival, rolling out discounts and promotional offers as Nigerian consumers continue to battle rising living costs and weaker purchasing power.
The month-long campaign, which began on June 1 and runs until June 30, features price cuts across categories including electronics, mobile phones, computing devices, fashion, groceries, beauty products, office equipment, and home appliances.
Konga said the festival is designed to help households and businesses access products at lower prices during a period marked by inflation, exchange rate volatility, and increasing operational costs.
The company is also offering deals on products from brands including Samsung, HP, Lenovo, Apple, Infinix, Tecno, Haier Thermocool, L’Oréal, and Starlink.
Retailers Face a More Price-Conscious Consumer
Nigeria’s retail sector has seen a noticeable shift in consumer behaviour over the past year as inflation continues to squeeze household budgets.
More shoppers are delaying purchases, reducing discretionary spending, or waiting for promotional campaigns before buying high-ticket items such as smartphones, appliances, and computing devices. That pressure has pushed retailers and e-commerce companies to rely more heavily on discount campaigns to drive demand.
Konga appears to be leaning into that reality with this year’s shopping festival, positioning affordability and convenience at the centre of the campaign.
Discounts Alone Are No Longer Enough
Beyond the discounts, Konga is introducing additional promotional activities aimed at keeping customers engaged throughout the campaign.
The company said shoppers will have access to flash sales, treasure hunts, live auctions, bundled offers, and free delivery on selected items in major cities including Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Kano, and Ibadan.
Konga is also expanding KongaNow, its same-day delivery service, which allows verified orders to be delivered within hours in selected locations.
That focus on logistics reflects a broader trend in Nigeria’s e-commerce market, where delivery speed and reliability are becoming as important as pricing.
As competition intensifies among online retailers, companies are increasingly investing in fulfilment infrastructure and customer experience to retain users.
E-Commerce Companies Adjust to Tougher Conditions
The latest campaign highlights the growing pressure on digital commerce platforms to balance affordability with rising operational expenses.
Import costs, foreign exchange instability, logistics expenses, and declining consumer purchasing power have all created a tougher operating environment for retailers across the country.
For e-commerce companies, large promotional campaigns have become one of the few ways to stimulate buying activity and maintain visibility in an increasingly crowded market.
Konga said it is working directly with manufacturers and authorised distributors to reduce intermediary costs and offer authentic products at lower prices.
Industry observers believe campaigns like the Mid-Year Shopping Festival could help sustain consumer activity in the short term, particularly among shoppers waiting for discounts before making purchases.
The company believes the festival will strengthen customer confidence while reinforcing its position in Nigeria’s competitive e-commerce sector.
