Payaza Africa is set to unveil ShopAza, its new cloud-based eCommerce platform, at a launch event taking place today in Lagos, Nigeria.

The launch signals the company’s expansion beyond its core payments infrastructure into a broader digital commerce offering to support merchants across Africa and international markets.

ShopAza is designed to help businesses create branded online stores, manage inventory, process orders, and accept payments through a unified system, reducing reliance on fragmented tools and manual processes that small businesses often use when operating on social media platforms.

The event is expected to bring together industry stakeholders, fintech leaders, and merchants to explore the future of digital commerce in Africa, alongside live demonstrations and keynote presentations from Payaza executives, including Taiwo Adeeko, Global Head of Operations.

Addressing the Reality of Social Commerce in Africa

For many small and medium-sized businesses across Africa, online selling still happens largely through WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook. While these platforms have enabled entrepreneurship and widened market access, they also introduce operational inefficiencies.

Merchants often rely on manual order tracking, informal communication threads, and disconnected payment processes. This creates challenges around scalability, customer experience, and data management.

ShopAza is entering this environment with a proposition focused on structure and simplification.

The platform will allow merchants to set up digital storefronts, upload and manage product listings, track inventory in real time, and process payments through integrated tools. The goal is to help businesses move from informal social selling to structured eCommerce operations.

What to Expect at the Launch Event

The Lagos launch event will serve as the first public introduction to ShopAza’s capabilities.

Attendees are expected to see a live demonstration of the platform, including how merchants can create and manage stores, handle transactions, and navigate the dashboard.

A keynote address from Payaza leadership is expected to outline the company’s vision for the platform, including how it fits into the broader shift toward integrated commerce infrastructure in Africa.

There will also be discussions around the challenges facing digital merchants and the opportunities emerging from cross-border eCommerce.

A Strategic Move Beyond Payments

ShopAza represents a strategic shift for Payaza as it expands beyond payment processing into full commerce enablement.

The platform sits within Payaza’s broader ecosystem, which includes products such as ChatPay, Payaza Give, EventPorte, and Payaza Branches, suggesting a longer-term strategy of building an interconnected suite of tools for businesses.

This approach reflects a growing trend among fintech companies that are increasingly moving into adjacent services to deepen merchant engagement and increase platform dependency beyond transactions.

Expansion Across Multiple Markets

Payaza has indicated that ShopAza will launch across Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and Tanzania, while also extending support to merchants operating in North America and Europe.

The inclusion of multiple markets from day one highlights the platform’s focus on cross-border commerce, particularly for African merchants serving diaspora customers.

Multi-currency functionality is expected to play a central role in enabling transactions across different regions, reducing friction for businesses operating internationally.

Competitive Landscape

ShopAza enters an already competitive eCommerce enablement market that includes platforms such as Paystack Commerce, Flutterwave Store, Interswitch Storefront, Bumpa, Selar, and Sellevo.

Each of these platforms targets similar merchant pain points, including storefront creation, payment integration, and business management tools.

Payaza’s differentiation will likely depend on its ecosystem integration, payments infrastructure, and ability to support multi-market commerce at scale.

Looking Ahead

As ShopAza makes its official debut today, attention will be on how Payaza positions the platform within the broader digital commerce ecosystem and how it plans to attract merchants in an increasingly crowded market.

Techsoma will be on the ground at the event to provide updates, reactions, and deeper insights as the platform is unveiled.
