At CES 2025, Panasonic Well, the innovation arm within Panasonic Group, revealed its ambitious vision for the future of family wellness. The company introduced a pioneering wellness ecosystem aimed at modern families, led by Panasonic Well CEO,  Yoky Matsuoka and Panasonic Holdings Group CEO, Yuki Kusumi. The centerpiece of this announcement was Umi, a digital wellness coach powered by AI, alongside new partnerships that aim to transform family health and well-being.

Tackling the Wellness Crisis Facing Families

In her keynote, Matsuoka addressed the growing challenges families face, including chronic stress, isolation, and a lack of integrated wellness solutions. She remarked,

“Families are overwhelmed by the pressures of stress and disconnected wellness options. The need for change has never been more urgent.”

Panasonic Well is committed to resolving these issues by leveraging decades of experience, consumer insights, and ethical wellness strategies to build the platform that families need today.

Matsuoka further emphasized, “When we refer to families, we include everyone we hold dear, whether it’s our immediate family, extended family, or our community.”

Umi: The AI-Powered Family Wellness Assistant

Umi stands as the core of Panasonic Well’s wellness ecosystem, combining AI with tailored insights and expert advice to help families maintain a balanced lifestyle.

Key features of Umi include:

Expert Support: Professional advice available for complex wellness needs.
Umi will officially launch in the U.S. in 2025.

Personalized Wellness Plans: Guidance on movement, nutrition, personal time, and family activities based on evidence-based practices.

Conversational AI Support: Umi uses Anthropic’s Claude AI to assist families with decision-making, activity planning, and overcoming wellness challenges.

Shared Family Dashboard: A tool that allows families to track their progress, activities, and wellness goals together.

Strategic Partnerships: Collaborations with trusted organizations like the National Sleep Foundation and Precision Nutrition to provide reliable and actionable wellness content.

Panasonic Well’s Partnership with Anthropic for AI Integration

In collaboration with Anthropic, Panasonic Well is integrating Claude AI into its wellness platform to ensure safe and effective AI applications. Known for its advanced reasoning abilities and natural language capabilities, Claude helps families with smooth, intuitive support.

“Our shared commitment to responsible AI development is a cornerstone of our partnership with Panasonic. Claude will enhance both workforce capabilities and consumer solutions,” said Daniela Amodei, President and Co-Founder of Anthropic.

Elise Neel, Panasonic Well’s Head of Global Strategy and Innovation, emphasized the long-term benefits of this collaboration:

“By using Claude’s AI, we can scale personalized wellness solutions to one billion customers. This partnership is about more than just products; it’s about developing adaptive, evolving solutions that grow with our customers and partners.”

Expanding Horizons: The Panasonic Well Partner Collective

Panasonic Well also launched the Partner Collective, a collaborative network of top wellness, technology, and research brands working together to deliver advanced wellness solutions. The collective includes renowned partners such as Aaptiv, Precision Nutrition, Calm, and BlueApron, ensuring high-quality content and services for families.

Additionally, Panasonic Well announced the winners of its Family Wellness Innovation Challenge, held in collaboration with AARP’s Age Tech Collaborative.

The winning companies: Hearth Display, Mindless Play, and Guava Health, each received a share of a $1 million prize and the chance to present their innovations at CES 2025.
