Talktu, a Nigerian startup focused on accessible mental healthcare, has won $10,000 at the Tech Circle Pitch Competition. The event was held as part of Tech Circle’s commitment to supporting early-stage African startups solving critical local problems.

How Does Talktu Work?

Talktu is a platform offering speech therapy for children with communication issues like speech delay and autism. It provides video lessons, interactive tools, and access to certified therapists. Parents and schools use it to make therapy more accessible and affordable.

“When we set out to build Talktu, we understood the problem and why our solution was important to bridge the current accessibility gap for children with speech difficulties,” said co-founder Sarah Andino. “We are happy with our journey and hearing feedback from parents on how their kids are making progress.”

Founded to bridge the mental health gap on the continent, Talktu makes therapy more approachable through user-friendly tech and flexible payment models. Its service is available via mobile and web, with an option for anonymous sessions.

About Tech Circle

Tech Circle Logo

Tech Circle is a Nigerian-based innovation hub and investor network. It supports African founders through funding, mentorship, and exposure. Its pitch competitions serve as a launchpad for promising ventures solving real-world problems through technology.

The $10,000 prize will help Talktu scale its platform, expand outreach, and onboard more therapists. Tech Circle judges praised the startup for its focus, traction, and relevance in a region where mental health remains highly stigmatised and underfunded.

What’s Next for Talktu?

Talktu plans to invest the funds in platform development and marketing. The startup is also exploring partnerships with schools, hospitals, and employers to integrate mental health services into everyday environments.

With this win, Talktu joins a growing list of African startups using technology to close care gaps and promote wellbeing.
