Digify Africa just opened applications for Cohort 8.0 of its Digify PRO Online programme. This is a completely free, self-paced course built for unemployed young Africans between 18 and 35. If you are in South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, or anywhere else on the continent and want practical digital skills with a heavy AI focus, this one is worth a look.

The next Open Day happens on 13 May 2026 at 12:00 PM (online). After that, the new cohort kicks off shortly. Applications are open right now.

What the Programme Actually Delivers

Digify PRO Online is split into clear phases. You start with the Foundations module. This covers digital marketing basics, AI literacy, cybersecurity awareness, Google Workspace tools, and career development skills. It runs for around four weeks and is fully self-paced.

Once you finish Foundations, you move into the Intermediate phase. Here, you pick electives that mix generative AI into real work. Think about using AI for paid advertising campaigns, content creation, data analytics, and more. The idea is simple. You do not just learn theory. You leave with tools you can actually use to find work or start small gigs.

The whole programme follows a “learning to earning” approach. It is designed to help participants move from skills to income opportunities, whether that is freelance work, entry-level jobs, or building their own digital side hustle.

Who Should Actually Apply

This programme is aimed at young people who feel stuck. You might have time on your hands but limited money for expensive courses. You might be fresh out of school or university with no clear next step. Or you could already be hustling with small gigs and want to level up.

You do not need previous experience for the Foundations phase. What matters is commitment and access to a laptop or phone with decent internet. The programme is open across Africa, though it has strong roots and support networks in South Africa, Nigeria, and Kenya.

Why AI Skills Are Becoming Non-Negotiable

Jobs and opportunities are changing fast. Many companies now expect basic AI understanding even for entry-level digital roles. Knowing how to use generative tools for content, ads, or analysis can set you apart from hundreds of other applicants.

Digify PRO does not treat AI as a separate shiny topic. It weaves it through the modules so you learn it as a practical everyday skill. That approach feels more useful than programmes that only teach theory or generic “future of work” talks.

How to Join Cohort 8.0

Head over to the Digify Africa applications page and submit your application. Spots are limited per cohort, so moving quickly makes sense.

The Open Day on 13 May is a good starting point. You will hear directly from the team, get a proper walkthrough of the curriculum, and ask any questions you have. It is online and low-pressure.

Final Word

Free, structured programmes with a real AI focus do not show up every week. If you are between 18 and 35, unemployed or underemployed, and serious about building digital skills, this is one worth checking out. The Open Day is a smart, no-commitment way to see if it fits your situation.

Applications are open. The clock is ticking for Cohort 8.0.
