Nigeria Fintech Forum 2026

Nigeria’s fintech industry has spent the past decade redefining how millions of people access financial services. From digital payments and mobile banking to lending, wealth management, and embedded finance, innovation has reshaped the country’s financial landscape. Yet, as the ecosystem matures, the conversation is shifting beyond rapid growth toward sustainability, regulation, and resilience.

That transition will take center stage on July 30 when Nigeria Fintech Forum 2026 returns for its fifth edition at the Civic Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos. Organised by Eventhive, the annual gathering will bring together regulators, financial institutions, fintech startups, infrastructure providers, investors, policymakers, and technology executives to examine what comes next for one of Africa’s most dynamic fintech markets.

With the theme “Finance, Regulation, and the New Operating Reality,” this year’s forum reflects an industry adjusting to a significantly different business environment.

Nigeria’s Fintech Ecosystem Enters a More Mature Phase

Over the past few years, Nigeria has cemented its position as one of Africa’s leading fintech hubs, producing startups that have attracted global investment while expanding access to financial services across the continent.

However, the industry’s rapid growth has also introduced new challenges. Regulators have intensified oversight, compliance requirements continue to evolve, digital asset policies are becoming more defined, and several fintech companies have pursued microfinance banking licences to expand their operational capabilities.

At the same time, increasing cybersecurity threats, changing consumer expectations, and the need for stronger financial infrastructure have pushed companies to rethink their growth strategies.

Against this backdrop, Nigeria Fintech Forum 2026 aims to create a platform where stakeholders can openly discuss the realities shaping the next phase of financial innovation.

A Platform for Industry-Wide Collaboration

The forum has evolved into more than a conference. It serves as a meeting point where public and private sector leaders exchange ideas, explore partnerships, and discuss policy directions influencing the broader digital economy.

Organised by Eventhive, one of Africa’s leading B2B2C event companies, the event forms part of the broader Africa Tech Series, a pan-African initiative that convenes technology and innovation conversations across cities including Lagos, Nairobi, Kigali, Johannesburg, and London.

Its cross-sector approach brings together professionals from banking, payments, telecommunications, e-commerce, enterprise technology, retail, and financial services, reflecting the increasingly interconnected nature of Africa’s digital economy.

Conversations Beyond Payments

While digital payments remain central to Nigeria’s fintech story, this year’s programme is expected to cover a much broader range of topics affecting financial services.

Attendees will participate in discussions around digital banking, lending, credit infrastructure, fraud prevention, cybersecurity, embedded finance, compliance technology, cloud infrastructure, wealthtech, agent banking, artificial intelligence, enterprise fintech solutions, and data infrastructure.

These conversations come as financial institutions increasingly adopt AI-driven services, cloud-native platforms, and advanced compliance technologies to meet both customer expectations and regulatory requirements.

The event will also feature exhibition spaces where companies can showcase emerging financial technologies and enterprise solutions, allowing attendees to engage directly with product innovators and infrastructure providers.

Regulators and Industry Leaders Share the Stage

One of the defining characteristics of Nigeria Fintech Forum is its ability to convene decision-makers from across the financial ecosystem.

This year’s speakers include representatives from key regulatory institutions such as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), alongside executives from SWIFT, Network International, NIBSS, Mastercard, Busha, Open Access Data Centre, Hyperbridge, Monica Technologies, and several other technology companies.

Rather than focusing solely on startup success stories, the programme reflects the broader ecosystem by bringing together regulators, payment networks, infrastructure providers, digital asset experts, enterprise technology leaders, and fintech founders.

The diversity of perspectives is expected to encourage more balanced conversations around innovation, compliance, infrastructure development, and financial inclusion.

Industry Backing Reflects Growing Importance

The forum has attracted support from a broad range of organisations operating across different segments of financial services.

Confirmed sponsors include technology companies, payment providers, cloud infrastructure firms, fintech startups, financial institutions, and enterprise solution providers such as Mastercard partner Monica, Open Access Data Centres, Hyperbridge, Busha Business, London Stock Exchange, Payaza, Korapay, Mycover.ai, Equinix, Platnova, Nosh, and several others.

The breadth of sponsorship reflects growing industry recognition that collaboration between financial institutions, regulators, infrastructure providers, and technology companies will play a central role in shaping the sector’s future.

Industry Must Move Beyond Scale

Speaking ahead of the event, Jamiu Ijaodola, CEO of Eventhive, said the industry is entering a more consequential stage of development.

“Nigeria’s fintech industry is entering a more mature and consequential phase where scale alone is no longer enough. The conversations at Nigeria Fintech Forum 2026 will focus on the deeper issues shaping the ecosystem today. Our goal is to create a platform where regulators, operators, investors, and technology leaders can engage honestly about the future of financial services in Nigeria and across Africa.”

His comments underscore a broader shift within Nigeria’s fintech landscape. As competition intensifies and regulatory expectations increase, long-term success is increasingly tied to governance, operational resilience, compliance, and sustainable business models rather than customer acquisition alone.

More Than 1,700 Participants Expected

Organisers expect more than 1,700 attendees from Nigeria and international markets, making the forum one of the country’s largest gatherings dedicated to financial technology and innovation.

Beyond keynote sessions and panel discussions, the event provides opportunities for startups seeking investment, financial institutions exploring partnerships, technology providers showcasing solutions, and policymakers engaging directly with industry operators.

These interactions often extend beyond the conference itself, creating relationships that influence product development, investment decisions, and regulatory dialogue long after the event concludes.

Looking Ahead

As Nigeria’s financial services sector continues to evolve, industry collaboration is becoming increasingly important. Regulatory reforms, advances in artificial intelligence, digital identity, cloud infrastructure, and embedded finance are reshaping how businesses operate and how consumers access financial services.

Nigeria Fintech Forum 2026 arrives at a pivotal moment when many of the industry’s biggest questions can no longer be addressed by individual companies alone. Bringing regulators, financial institutions, technology providers, investors, and innovators into the same room provides an opportunity to align on shared challenges and explore practical solutions.

For an ecosystem entering a more mature phase of development, the discussions taking place in Lagos on July 30 are likely to offer valuable insight into the direction of Nigeria’s fintech industry and its role within Africa’s rapidly expanding digital economy.
