MTN Nigeria Launches Y’ello Y’Fi to Help SMEs Turn Wi-Fi Into Sales

In this story

MTN Nigeria has launched Y’ello Y’Fi, an enterprise Wi-Fi and analytics solution built for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). It bundles internet connectivity with customer engagement and network management tools in a single managed offering.

What Y’ello Y’Fi Offers

The service lets businesses replace a plain Wi-Fi password with a branded login page. Through that page, a shop, restaurant or office can collect customer information, run promotional campaigns and customise the landing page to match its brand.

The platform also provides real-time analytics on customer behaviour. Business owners can see usage patterns and preferences, which MTN says can guide marketing decisions.

Fixing the Congestion Problem

Y’ello Y’Fi also tackles a common headache for small businesses. When staff and customers share one network, speeds drop, and security suffers. MTN says the platform sets up separate access paths for staff and guests, and gives owners device, user and bandwidth controls.

MTN Nigeria’s Chief Enterprise Business Officer, Lynda Saint-Nwafor, said small businesses need more than internet access to compete and grow. She said the product gives SMEs branded digital experiences, useful insights and better control of their networks, and that MTN wants digital solutions to be more accessible and relevant to Nigerian businesses.

Why It Matters for SMEs

For many small businesses, free Wi-Fi is a cost with no return. Y’ello Y’Fi tries to change that by turning guest connections into customer data and marketing opportunities. It also pushes MTN further into enterprise services, where connectivity alone no longer sets operators apart.

Businesses that collect customer details through the login page will still need to handle that data responsibly. Nigeria’s data protection law applies to how personal information is gathered, stored and used, so owners should be clear with customers about what they collect and why.
