Moonshot 2026: Grey Launches Paycheck for Foreign-Currency Earners After Processing Nearly $5 Billion

In this story

Nigerian fintech Grey unveiled Paycheck, a salary management product for professionals earning in dollars, pounds and euros, at Moonshot 2026 in Lagos, as the company expands beyond international payments into savings and broader financial services.

The announcement was made on October 28 during the technology conference, where Grey also disclosed that it had processed nearly $5 billion in cumulative payments, attracted more than three million users and recorded 170% year-on-year growth in payment volume.

The launch was among the fintech product announcements at Moonshot 2026, highlighting how African payment companies are moving beyond money transfers to offer customers more ways to manage their finances.

Grey Unveils Paycheck at Moonshot 2026

During the conference, Grey introduced Paycheck as a solution for Africans who receive salaries from international employers but still rely on separate financial platforms to manage their earnings.

According to Grey’s official product information, the service allows eligible customers to receive salaries in US dollars, British pounds and euros through their existing Grey accounts.

Its Salary Sorter feature enables users to automatically distribute incoming earnings between their available balance, savings and emergency funds based on their preferred allocation.

Eligible customers can also earn up to 3% annual interest on qualifying US dollar savings, alongside access to higher transaction limits and promotional rewards.

Under Grey’s product terms, qualifying salary payments must meet specific requirements, including a minimum equivalent of $300.

Paycheck is integrated into the existing Grey application, eliminating the need for customers to download a separate app.

Grey Discloses Nearly $5 Billion in Payments

Beyond the product announcement, Grey used Moonshot 2026 to highlight the growth of its international payments business.

Founded in 2020, the fintech disclosed that it now serves more than three million users and has processed nearly $5 billion in cumulative transactions.

The company also reported 170% year-on-year growth in payment volume, reflecting increased use of its cross-border financial services.

Grey initially focused on helping Africans receive and convert foreign-currency payments, particularly professionals working remotely for international organisations.

With Paycheck, the company is expanding its relationship with those customers beyond receiving money to managing what happens after their salaries arrive.

Grey has also indicated plans to introduce credit services using recurring salary information to support lending decisions, although those features are not yet generally available through Paycheck.

Why Grey’s Moonshot Announcement Matters

The launch reflects a broader shift in Africa’s fintech industry, where companies that initially focused on payments are increasingly expanding into savings, credit and other financial services.

For Nigerian freelancers and remote workers earning foreign currencies, Paycheck could reduce the need to move salaries between multiple platforms for everyday spending and savings.

For Grey, the product presents an opportunity to become a primary financial platform for customers rather than simply a service they use to receive international transfers.

Its announcement at Moonshot 2026 also highlights how African fintech companies are increasingly competing to manage more of their customers’ financial activities.

However, adoption will depend on whether Grey can deliver sufficient value through its savings features, rewards and planned financial services to convince customers to keep their earnings on the platform.
