BUI Opens Cyber Security Operations Centre in Nairobi to Strengthen Digital Protection in East Africa

BUI, a global technology consultancy specializing in cloud, security, and networking solutions, has officially launched its latest Cyber Security Operations Centre (Cyber SOC) in Nairobi, Kenya. This facility is designed to provide real-time monitoring, detection, and response to cyberthreats, reinforcing East Africa’s cybersecurity landscape.

The Nairobi Cyber SOC marks BUI’s fourth security hub in Africa, following the success of its Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Welkom operations. This expansion further underscores BUI’s commitment to fortifying businesses against growing cyber risks.

A Commitment to Cybersecurity and Local Talent

Speaking at the launch event on February 20, Hasmukh Chudasama, General Manager for East Africa at BUI, emphasized the impact of the new Cyber SOC beyond security solutions.

“For Kenya and the broader East African region, our Nairobi Cyber SOC represents more than just advanced security: it’s an investment in local talent, skills development, and job creation. We believe in Kenya’s potential as a cybersecurity leader and we look forward to strengthening our partnerships with industry innovators and empowering the next generation of digital defenders.”

Before the official ribbon-cutting ceremony, BUI Global CEO Ryan Roseveare highlighted the significance of the new security hub.

“This new hub represents a significant milestone in our expansion within the East African market. We are committed to delivering tailored, localized security solutions that provide our customers with comprehensive protection and peace of mind as they adopt and embrace our world-class services.”

Advanced Cybersecurity Solutions Powered by Microsoft Technologies

BUI’s Nairobi Cyber SOC integrates powerful Microsoft security solutions, including:

  • Microsoft Defender XDR for endpoint protection.
  • Microsoft Sentinel for AI-powered threat detection.
  • Microsoft Copilot for enhanced automation.
  • Custom security tools to provide comprehensive digital protection.

The SecOps team at BUI ensures round-the-clock threat monitoring and rapid response, enabling businesses to stay ahead of evolving cyber risks.

The Growing Need for Cybersecurity in East Africa

With cybercriminals launching increasingly sophisticated attacks, businesses face challenges such as:

  • Skills shortages in cybersecurity.
  • Rising technology costs for security infrastructure.
  • Complex digital ecosystems requiring robust protection.

At the event, Phyllis Migwi, Microsoft Country Manager for Kenya, stressed the importance of prioritizing security in today’s digital world.

“If you’re using technology, the first foundation is security… Security should begin with me as an individual. What tools am I using? Do I understand them? Do I know how they interact with other tools? These are critical questions. One of the key benefits that BUI brings to its customers is helping them navigate these security considerations.”

How Businesses Are Benefiting from BUI’s Cyber SOC

Many organizations have already experienced significant security improvements by partnering with BUI.

“It has been fantastic… The Cyber SOC has greatly enhanced our visibility, allowing us to detect and respond to threats more effectively. As a result, we’ve significantly reduced the risks to our organization.”
— Rachael Ongalo, Head of IT at KEMRI-Wellcome Trust

The Future of Cybersecurity in East Africa

With its Nairobi Cyber SOC now fully operational, BUI is committed to:

  • Innovating with emerging cybersecurity technologies.
  • Expanding its reach to support more businesses across East Africa.
  • Enhancing digital security resilience for organizations of all sizes.

This launch marks a major step toward building a more secure digital future for businesses, governments, and individuals in the region.
