MTN Launches AI Powered Job Board to Connect African Youth With Employment Opportunities

MTN has introduced an AI-powered Job Board feature on its Skills Academy platform, aimed at helping young Africans move more easily from digital training into paid employment. The company unveiled the feature to mark International Youth Day, positioning it as an extension of its broader push for digital and economic inclusion across the continent.

How the Job Board Works

Unlike traditional job listing platforms that simply display available vacancies, MTN’s new feature uses artificial intelligence to match users with roles based on their existing skills, location and career goals. Learners can browse and filter job opportunities, review requirements, save vacancies they are interested in, and track their applications through interview and offer stages.

Where a user’s current skill set does not fully match a role’s requirements, the platform recommends free courses on the Skills Academy that could help close the gap. This ties job discovery directly to the skills development learners are already pursuing on the platform, rather than treating the two as separate processes.

Available Across Eleven African Markets

The Job Board is live in all eleven markets where the MTN Skills Academy currently operates, including South Africa, Uganda, Zambia, Rwanda and Ghana. Vacancies on the platform come from employers across these markets, giving learners access to a regional pool of opportunities rather than a single country’s listings.

Users can access the feature through the Skills Academy platform in their respective markets.

Skills Academy’s Track Record

Launched in 2022, the MTN Skills Academy offers training in areas such as digital literacy, coding, data analytics, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and entrepreneurship. The platform has recorded close to 526,000 enrolments, more than 192,000 course completions and over 1,100 specialisations completed across its eleven markets to date.

By layering AI-powered job discovery on top of this existing training infrastructure, MTN is signalling an ambition to move beyond simply providing access to digital skills, toward creating a more direct pipeline from learning to economic participation for young Africans.
