Africa’s startup ecosystem gets a massive boost as the continent’s networking festival arrives in Kenya. The Africa Startup Festival hits Nairobi on October 30, 2025, bringing together the biggest names in African tech, venture capital, and innovation to Bota House.

Business Insider recognizes this event as Africa’s top deal-making platform. Last year’s edition in Lagos connected over 2,000 industry leaders, generated millions in funding commitments, and sparked partnerships that continue driving innovation across the continent.

Fintech Pioneer Hilda Moraa Headlines Speaker Lineup

Hilda Moraa, founder and CEO of Pezesha, leads the speaker roster. Her fintech platform has disbursed over 500,000 SME loans using more than 100 million data points. Moraa won the Best Woman Fintech CEO award in Kenya for 2024 and represents the new generation of African entrepreneurs building global-scale companies from the continent.

The speaker lineup also includes Chris Maranga, Regional Director for Africa at Acumen, and Sieka Gatabaki, Program Director at Mercy Corps AgriFin. These leaders bring decades of experience in scaling African startups and connecting them with international markets.

Nairobi Emerges as East Africa’s Innovation Hub

Kenya’s capital city has become East Africa’s undisputed tech hub. Nairobi accounts for nearly all of Kenya’s startup ecosystem activity, with a growth rate of 22% in 2025. The city’s tech scene focuses heavily on fintech, healthtech, and e-commerce solutions that solve real African problems.

The choice of Bota House as the venue reflects the festival’s premium positioning. This Spring Valley location offers elegant meeting spaces and can accommodate up to 150 participants in its main event area. The venue’s garden setting provides a perfect backdrop for the networking sessions that often produce the festival’s most valuable connections.

Tech Leaders from Across Africa to Converge

The festival attracts participants from across Africa’s “Big Four” startup ecosystems, Nigeria, South Africa, Egypt, and Kenya. These four countries account for 83% of all African startup funding in 2025, making this gathering a true continental summit for tech innovation.

Ananth Gudipati, founder of Sukhiba, brings insights from the agricultural technology sector. Christine Namara from Flat6Labs represents one of the region’s most successful startup accelerators. Together, these speakers offer perspectives on every major sector driving African innovation.

One-Day Event Packs Maximum Value for Attendees

The single-day format concentrates all activities into an intensive networking and learning experience. Unlike multi-day conferences, this approach ensures maximum participation from busy executives and investors who can’t spare entire weeks for events.

Nnaemeka Clinton, CEO of Spark and the festival’s organizer, describes the event as “more than an event; it’s a movement that empowers Africa’s startup ecosystem.” The festival promises to connect African founders, investors, and creators developing solutions to the continent’s most pressing challenges.

Registration Opens for Africa’s Premier Startup Gathering

Early registration has opened for the October 30 event, with ticket prices expected to increase as the date approaches.

The Kenya edition represents the festival’s expansion beyond its traditional Lagos base. This geographic diversification reflects the growing importance of East African markets and Kenya’s emergence as a regional tech powerhouse.

For African startups seeking investment, partnerships, or market expansion opportunities, this October gathering represents the year’s most important networking opportunity. The combination of Kenya’s booming tech scene and the festival’s proven track record for generating deals makes this a must-attend event for anyone serious about African innovation.
