PiggyVest used its OpenHouse 2026 event at the National Theatre in Lagos on September 26 to show that it wants to be more than a place to lock away money. The fintech announced products for children, couples, friends and business owners, along with a lighter app and a rebuilt companion app.
Saving for the Whole Family
PiggyVest Kids lets parents open and manage several child accounts from their own profile. They can set rules for how each account is accessed and used, with the aim of building savings habits early.
Joint Accounts open the platform to group saving. Friends, relatives or partners can pool money toward a shared goal in one space.
Tools for Business Owners
PiggyVest Business targets people who need to track expenses and manage cash flow. It also brings SafeLock and Flex Naira to business funds, which should appeal to owners who want to keep company money separate from personal savings.
Smart Salary Aims at Overspending
Smart Salary is expected to launch next week. Users will be able to schedule when portions of their pay become available to spend. The idea is to slow down the familiar pattern of a salary disappearing within days of arriving.
A Faster App and a Rebuilt PocketApp
The main PiggyVest app has been redesigned to be smaller, faster and easier to navigate. Users can now fund PiggyBank through direct bank transfers, and Group Target Savings has been simplified.
PocketApp got a ground-up rebuild with a cleaner layout for checking balances and making payments. New features include Quick Send, which stores frequent payment details, and Scan to Pay, which lets users scan account details before confirming a transfer. A Split feature creates payment links for shared expenses, and recipients do not need a Pocket account to use them. Users can also shake their phones to report problems.
Flex Dollar Gets Easier to Fund
Flex Dollar can now be funded directly through an account number. PiggyVest says stablecoin funding and smoother transfers between Flex Dollar and PocketApp are coming later.
What This Signals
The founders say Nigerian earners look different from a decade ago. Many now make money from online businesses, content creation and social selling instead of a traditional 9-to-5 job, and their financial needs have changed with them. PiggyVest says it wants to become the financial operating system of the Nigerian household, covering different life stages instead of savings alone.
For users, the promise is convenience and control. For PiggyVest, the test will be whether these products land as smoothly as the announcements suggest, especially Smart Salary, which is yet to go live.
