Ogun Digital Summit Opens Applications for ₦5m Hackathon to Young Nigerian Innovators

In this story

The Ogun Digital Summit (ODS) 2026 has opened applications for its hackathon, inviting young developers, innovators and entrepreneurs from across Nigeria to compete for a ₦5 million prize pool. The top three teams will share the money.

Where and when it happens

The hackathon is part of the seventh edition of the summit, which runs from November 25 to 27, 2026, at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta. The hackathon itself will be held on the first day at the Ogun Tech Hub in Kobape, also in Abeokuta.

Six sectors, real-world problems

Teams will build and demonstrate solutions in six areas: fintech, edtech, proptech and real estate, healthtech and telemedicine, agritech and food security, and AI and machine learning. Organisers say the goal is to back solutions to real problems facing businesses and communities.

What winners take home

Cash is only part of the reward. The top three teams will also receive cloud computing credits, Zoho credits, workspace opportunities and an eight-week mentorship programme.

That structure appears deliberate. Many tech competitions fade once the prizes are handed out, leaving winners to figure out the next step alone. By pairing the prize money with tools, space and mentorship, the summit is trying to help teams keep building after the event ends.

Why the focus on talent outside Lagos

Ogun Digital Summit: Victor Adeleye Speaks on Ogun state
Victor Adeleye

According to summit convener Victor Adeleye, the biggest obstacle for talented young people outside Lagos is not a shortage of ideas. It is limited access to the networks, resources and opportunities needed to develop those ideas into products. The hackathon is designed to spot promising innovators and put them in front of people who can offer meaningful support.

Organisers say the summit wants to go beyond conversations about innovation and provide practical resources that help young people turn ideas into viable businesses.

A wider programme around the hackathon

The summit has run since 2020 and has connected young Nigerians with technology leaders, entrepreneurs, investors and industry professionals. This year’s edition will also include a showcase of innovations in the ecosystem, a main technology conference, networking sessions and a gala night for stakeholders.

A separate Deal Room is planned for selected startups, giving 10 revenue-generating businesses from Ogun State the chance to speak directly with venture capital firms and angel investors about their traction, business models and investment readiness.

How to apply

Interested participants can register for the hackathon on the summit’s official website. Registration for the main summit is a separate process, so applicants who also want to attend the wider event will need to sign up for both.
