Ogun state digital summit 2025

Ogun State used the just-concluded Digital Summit to demonstrate how far its technology ecosystem has evolved. The event was not only a gathering of policymakers and innovators; it was a showcase of the state’s growing capacity to build, retain, and scale digital solutions rooted in local talent.

A Stage Built to Prove Ogun Can Lead

This year’s summit centred on one message: Ogun is ready to compete as a serious technology hub. The state highlighted its growing digital infrastructure, its coordinated innovation programmes, and the work being done to build a pipeline of trained talent across AI, cloud technologies, and data-driven fields.

The government’s unveiling of new digital initiatives signalled a long-term commitment to position Ogun as a foundation for Nigeria’s next-generation tech companies.

A Spotlight on Homegrown Innovation

While the summit did not publish a full list of startups that pitched, the live demos and investor sessions made one thing clear: Ogun’s tech builders are no longer on the sidelines. Founders showcased early-stage products across HR tech, fintech, and data solutions, with strong encouragement to build for the realities of Africa’s infrastructure and economic landscape.

One of the notable industry voices was the co-founder of PaidHR, who challenged founders to design software that reflects the continent’s local constraints rather than copying global playbooks. This approach is now shaping Ogun’s product mindset to be more practical, resilient and locally relevant.

A Call for Founders to Build and Stay in Ogun

Summit organisers and speakers stressed a new philosophy: “build here, stay here.” Ogun wants its innovators to grow inside the state instead of migrating to more established hubs.

This message resonated because it reflects a real shift. The local ecosystem has matured. There is more institutional support, more policy backing, and more visibility for startups emerging from Ogun. The summit created direct matchmaking opportunities between founders and investors, giving young companies a chance to validate their ideas and receive guidance on traction, user testing, and capital readiness.

Policy Support That Strengthens the Ecosystem

Ogun’s Digital Summit also underscored the importance of policy as a driver of innovation. Discussions around digital governance, electronic documentation, diaspora investment, and harmonised regulations showed that the state is aligning its digital vision with national reforms.

New training initiatives (including AI, cloud, and data centres) were spotlighted as evidence of Ogun’s commitment to preparing its youth for the next wave of digital jobs.

This combination of policy and training is helping to anchor the state’s long-term digital ambitions.

A Community Prepared to Scale

The summit showcased the role of the Ogun Tech Community as a unifying force. Its leadership emphasised the need for collaboration, storytelling, and consistency. The goal is not just to host an annual summit, but to create a strong identity for Ogun’s innovators and give them the confidence to scale their solutions beyond the state.

This year’s turnout, combined with active participation from national tech leaders, shows the growing influence of Ogun’s digital movement.

Ogun’s Moment Is Taking Shape

The summit proved that Ogun State is no longer an emerging player; it is an ecosystem preparing for expansion. With a focus on local creation, long-term support structures, and a commitment to retaining talent, Ogun is positioning itself as a credible centre for innovation in Nigeria.

The event was more than a showcase; it was a statement that the state is ready for the next phase of its digital evolution.
