Anthropic, the AI company behind the Claude AI assistant, launched Anthropic Academy as a structured, free online learning platform. The Academy hosts 13 courses through its Skilljar-based portal at anthropic.skilljar.com, with select courses also available on Coursera. The platform targets three distinct groups of learners: everyday professionals who want to use AI in their work, developers who want to build with Claude’s tools, and educators who want to bring AI into classrooms responsibly.
Each course includes video lessons, exercises, and integrated quizzes. Learners who finish a course receive a digital certificate, which they can download or share directly on LinkedIn. Importantly, none of these courses require a paid Claude subscription or any prior AI knowledge. A free Skilljar account is all you need to get started.
Three Clear Learning Tracks
Anthropic Academy organises its curriculum into three tracks, each built for a different type of learner.
The first track, AI Fluency, focuses on building foundational skills for working with AI safely and effectively. It covers the practical side of using Claude for daily tasks, collaboration, academic work, classroom teaching, and nonprofit operations.
The second track, Product Training, introduces beginners to Claude’s core features through Claude 101, a course designed specifically for people just starting out with AI tools.
The third track, Developer Deep-Dives, targets technical learners who want to build applications, connect Claude to external tools, or deploy AI in enterprise cloud environments.
The Coursera Partnership Extends the Reach
In November 2025, Anthropic partnered with Coursera to bring two additional AI learning pathways to its global learner base. The first, Building with the Claude API on Coursera, gives developers an AI-guided, interactive experience that includes real-time personalised feedback as they build tools and agents. The second, Real-World AI for Everyone, is a three-course specialisation co-created with the organisation Advancing Women in Technology (AWIT). It covers AI fundamentals, AI collaboration, and AI automation, all through hands-on practice with Claude.
Greg Hart, CEO of Coursera, noted at the time that only one-third of employees reported receiving any AI training at work, a gap these courses directly address. Maggie Vo, Anthropic’s Head of Education, added that the goal is to give learners the skills and confidence to get the most out of Claude, at every level of experience.
Anthropic’s Wider Education Push
Anthropic’s investment in education has been building steadily across multiple fronts. The company participated in the White House Taskforce on AI Education, working to expand practical AI skills among students and educators in the United States. In Iceland, Anthropic launched one of the world’s first comprehensive national AI education pilots. In Rwanda, the company partnered with the government and the education organisation ALX to bring AI education to hundreds of thousands of learners across Africa. These efforts signal a consistent, long-term commitment to broadening access to AI skills at the community and government level, not just the individual level.
