Egypt Launches E-Voting and Performance Monitoring Projects to Boost Digital Transformation

Egypt is accelerating its digital transformation with two transformative initiatives: the launch of the E-Voting System and a comprehensive Complaints and Performance Monitoring Program.

Spearheaded by Egypt’s Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, these projects are set to enhance government efficiency, improve transparency, and elevate public services, aligning with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s Vision 2030 for a modernized, digital Egypt.

Paving the Way for a More Transparent Government

During the event held at the Administrative Prosecution Authority, key figures including Justice Minister, Adnan Fangary and Youth and Sports Minister, Ashraf Sobhi gathered to witness the official launch of these initiatives. The projects represent a significant step towards modernizing the way Egypt runs elections and engages with citizens.

The E-Voting System, designed to transition from paper-based elections to electronic platforms, offers greater efficiency, transparency, and environmental sustainability.

This project isn’t just about technology, it’s about restoring citizens’ trust in the electoral process. In fact, the E-Voting System has already been used successfully in 16 elections across various sectors, including the Musicians’ Syndicate and the Administrative Prosecution Authority Club.

Egypt is not only boosting election integrity but also championing eco-friendly initiatives by minimizing paper waste and reducing transportation-related carbon emissions.

Enhancing Public Service Delivery through Data-Driven Decision-Making

The performance monitoring project, part of Egypt’s “Enhancing Government Performance” initiative, aims to assess and improve the delivery of public services across the nation. The initiative provides government officials with valuable, data-driven insights to make informed decisions and enhance citizens’ overall experience with public services. As part of Egypt’s Vision 2030, it emphasizes accountability, positive citizen engagement, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

The new Complaints and Performance Monitoring System empowers Egyptian citizens by giving them the ability to submit complaints through a mobile application. This digital-first approach ensures that citizens’ voices are heard and that the government can respond promptly to their concerns. Additionally, this system will help eliminate bottlenecks in the government’s promotion and leadership appointment processes, ensuring a more efficient and fair experience for all.

A Step Forward for Corruption-Free Governance

In her remarks, Dr. Al-Mashat reiterated that these projects align with Egypt’s National Anti-Corruption Strategy and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) #16, which promotes peace, justice, and strong institutions. By embracing technology and integrating digital tools, Egypt is making it easier to fight corruption, improve business competitiveness, and build trust in its institutions.

This initiative will also contribute to global rankings and indicators, particularly in anti-corruption and governance, helping Egypt emerge as a leader in digital governance in the region. Egypt is fostering greater transparency and creating a more inclusive society that responds to the needs of its people.

Dr. Al-Mashat emphasized that the e-voting initiative reflects Egypt’s broader commitment to digital transformation, which includes using modern IT solutions to enhance various aspects of public life. The success of the e-voting system, coupled with the performance monitoring program, shows that Egypt is poised to lead by example, demonstrating that technological innovation can improve not just administrative processes but the quality of life for citizens.
