UDC25: How Untitled Designers Conference Became Africa’s Leading Creative Gathering

When the Untitled Designers Conference (UDC) launched three years ago, it was little more than a bold idea: to create a platform where African designers could connect, learn, and showcase their work to the world.

Today, UDC has become the most important gathering for Africa’s creative professionals, drawing thousands of attendees, global sponsors, and shaping the conversation around design and technology on the continent.

A Growing Platform

Since its debut, UDC has grown rapidly:
• From a few hundred participants in its first year to more than 3,000 attendees in 2024.
• Reaching an online audience of over 100,000 designers across Africa and beyond.
• Attracting major partners, including Google, which has signed on as a sponsor for UDC25.

Each edition has carried a unique theme reflecting the evolution of Africa’s creative space: from Opening Doors in 2022, to Community in 2023, to The Next Wave in 2024. This year, UDC25 will focus on Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Design.

Opportunities Created

The impact of UDC goes beyond inspiration. It has created real opportunities for young African designers:
• Career breakthroughs: Attendees have landed jobs, freelance contracts, and collaborations directly from conference connections.
• Mentorship: Students and emerging designers gain access to experienced professionals who guide them.
• Visibility: Designers showcase their work on a platform that reaches global audiences.

For many, UDC has become a launchpad.

Founder’s Vision

At the center of this movement is Marvis Ighedosa, designer and founder of Untitled Designers. His vision for UDC has always been clear:

“UDC is about putting African designers on the pedestal they deserve. We’re building a platform that empowers creatives with the tools, skills, and visibility to thrive locally and globally.”

Under his leadership, UDC has grown from a small community initiative into a continental event, proving that African design is not just relevant but essential to the global creative economy.

UDC25: What to Expect

The upcoming edition, set for October 4, 2025, at Regal Hall, Daystar, Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos State, will bring together over 5,000 attendees and feature:
• Keynotes and panels with leading voices in design and technology.
• Hands-on workshops introducing AI tools such as Gemini, Veo, and NotebookLM.
• Networking sessions for designers, founders, and students.
• A global livestream for audiences unable to attend in person.

With AI at its core, UDC25 will equip African designers with the skills and mindset to lead in a rapidly changing industry.

Looking Ahead

The theme for UDC25, AI and the Future of Design, reflects where the industry is headed. Artificial intelligence is transforming creative workflows, and African designers are positioned to take advantage of this shift. With international tools, local talent, and global exposure, UDC is preparing its community to lead the next chapter of the creative economy.
