Ex-Paystack Visionary Raises $130,000 in Record Time for Next-Gen Step-Tracking App

Temilola Giwa, a former Product Lead at Paystack, has raised $130,000 in just 30 days to launch a new step-tracking app under her startup, Tru Count Inc. Her successful fundraising highlights the growing interest in health-focused technology and the demand for innovative wellness solutions across Africa.

Temi’s Journey from Paystack to Fitness Tech

Temi Giwa’s time at Paystack exposed her to building user-friendly products and scaling digital platforms. Leveraging this experience, she set out to create a step-tracking platform designed to motivate users to stay active. The app will combine step tracking with gamified rewards, social challenges, and personalized fitness insights, setting it apart from traditional pedometer apps.

Features and Benefits

The upcoming platform will allow users to earn points for daily activity, join community challenges, and access personalized tips for improving fitness. These rewards can be redeemed for discounts on fitness products and services. The app’s goal is to build a strong community around healthy habits rather than simply tracking steps.

Dr. Amina Yusuf, a wellness consultant, explains, “When people track their steps while engaging in challenges or earning rewards, it creates lasting motivation. This approach encourages real lifestyle changes rather than temporary efforts.”

Why Investors Backed Temi’s Idea

The fitness app industry continues to grow, fueled by increasing health awareness and mobile-first solutions. Temi’s experience in product design and user engagement gave investors confidence in her ability to build a platform with high user retention. The quick fundraising success reflects strong interest from both startup investors and early adopters seeking a fresh approach to wellness.

Adewale Ogunleye, a startup advisor, remarks, “Temi’s transition from fintech to fitness tech shows how transferable product expertise can create impact in emerging industries. Investors want to support founders who understand technology and user behavior.”

Looking Ahead

Tru Count Inc. plans to release a beta version of the step-tracking app in the coming months. Future updates will include integration with wearable devices and AI-powered recommendations. Temi Giwa’s journey from fintech to health-tech underlines a broader trend where technology is increasingly used to promote healthier lifestyles.
