AltSchool to Launch ‘Campus by AltSchool’ in the Second Quarter of 2025

AltSchool Africa, a leading Nigerian edtech startup, is set to launch “Campus by AltSchool,” a hybrid learning programme aimed at enhancing course completion rates and fostering a stronger student community. This new initiative, scheduled to roll out in Q2 2025, will provide in-person learning hubs in Lagos and Kigali, with plans for expansion into other African cities.

Bridging the Gap Between Online and In-Person Learning

AltSchool Africa has built a reputation for its online courses in software development, product design, and other digital skills. However, recognising the challenges students face, such as unreliable internet access, power shortages, and a lack of structured engagement, the company is now integrating physical learning hubs into its model.

The hybrid programme will operate through partnerships with Techpoint Africa and Pistis Hub, ensuring that students have access to well-equipped learning spaces with stable internet and electricity.

Personalised Learning Experience

To provide more interactive and hands-on learning, instructors will conduct in-person classes three times a week, with each session lasting four hours. This approach will allow for personalised guidance and real-time interactions, bridging the gap often experienced in remote learning.

While learners are expected to bring their own devices, they may not have the option to download materials for offline learning.

Short Masterclasses Instead of Long Diplomas

Rather than launching full-scale diploma programmes immediately, Campus by AltSchool will begin with short, intensive masterclasses lasting four months, a contrast to its current 12-month online courses. These courses will provide students with practical skills in a shorter timeframe.

Strategic Partnerships & Expansion Plans

AltSchool is actively forming partnerships with key organisations to subsidise learning costs. The company recently signed a deal with Bybit to train 1,000 Africans and has also collaborated with Binance and OpenLabs Ghana on similar initiatives.

A key target audience for Campus by AltSchool will be young secondary school leavers, particularly those whose parents prefer short, skill-based training programmes over long-term education commitments.

In addition to launching its in-person learning, the edtech leader is also pioneering AI education through its AI for 10M Africans initiative. This program is part of its broader mission to equip Africans with essential digital skills, democratizing AI knowledge and preparing millions for the future of work in tech.

A Bold Step in African Edtech

With over 60% of Africa’s population under the age of 25, investments in education and upskilling initiatives are more critical than ever. However, economic constraints have challenged many edtech ventures, making AltSchool Africa’s expansion into hybrid learning a significant development to watch.
