Serial entrepreneur Okey Esse has officially launched Esse Mobility, a solar-powered electric vehicle company designed to redefine the future of urban mobility in Nigeria. With a mission to provide affordable, luxury transport powered entirely by solar energy, Esse Mobility is already making waves in the fast-growing mobility sector.

The Esse Mobility Vision: Green Urban Transport Redefined

Esse Mobility’s vision centers around delivering emission-free urban taxi services, dubbed Green Wheels, powered by solar energy and integrated with the latest in digital and smart technologies.

The startup also addresses infrastructure needs with solar energy storage, battery swapping stations, and a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) factory currently being built in Enugu State for scalable mass production.

Rapid Growth: From Concept to Commercialization

Conceived in February 2024, Esse Mobility swiftly advanced to an MVP stage by October 2024 and entered commercialization by February 2025. Within two months of its market entry, the company launched in three Nigerian states and signed partnerships to deploy 1,500 solar EV fleets, the 550SPV and 150SPV models by the end of 2025.

Product Spotlight: Solar-Powered Electric Vehicles with Extended Range

At the heart of Esse Mobility’s innovation are its flagship electric vehicles featuring a 550km battery capacity, augmented by a 300W rooftop solar PV system that boosts range to an impressive 700km daily. These specs enable Esse to offer not only long-range capability but also contribute to carbon credit monetization per kilometer, a rare combination of affordability and sustainability.

Innovative Infrastructure: Battery Swapping, Solar Energy Storage, and CKD Factory

Beyond the vehicles, Esse Mobility is building an integrated ecosystem. Its battery swapping stations ensure quick vehicle turnaround, while solar energy storage units guarantee consistent performance. The CKD factory in Enugu will support scalable local production, create jobs, and foster Nigeria’s industrial growth in clean technology.

Leadership and Legacy: The Visionary Behind Esse Mobility
