Canva is stepping into new territory and taking on some of the biggest names in workplace productivity with the launch of Canva Sheets, its brand-new spreadsheet product.
Announced during its ‘Canva Create: Uncharted event’, Canva Sheets is described as an “all-new, visual-first spreadsheet software” and is being rolled out in phases over the coming months. The tool will be available across browser, desktop, and mobile platforms.
But this is not another Excel lookalike. Canva says Sheets reimagines spreadsheets for the modern, design-focused user. It integrates tightly with the company’s growing Visual Suite, offering users a seamless bridge between creative design and data. For Canva, this marks another big move toward becoming an all-in-one productivity hub for individuals, teams, and enterprises.

AI-Powered Features: Magic Insights, Charts, and Formulas
Canva Sheets is loaded with generative AI capabilities.
Its “Magic Insights” feature automatically scans data and highlights key trends.
“Magic Charts” lets users turn numbers into visual reports and animated infographics.
“Magic Formulas” allows for natural-language commands to build formulas, making complex calculations easier to handle without technical know-how.
Data Integration with HubSpot, Google Analytics, and Statista
The new product also ties into Canva’s existing integrations, letting users import data from platforms like HubSpot, Google Analytics, and Statista. And because it’s part of Canva’s design-first platform, you can drag and drop brand elements, add visuals, and even automate content creation using Canva’s AI tools, all within a spreadsheet.
Enterprise Expansion: Canva Eyes Business Teams with Sheets Rollout
With its visual interface and flexibility, Canva Sheets is clearly aiming to stand apart from traditional spreadsheet tools like Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets. Whether users need data-driven dashboards, infographic-style reports, or collaborative campaign planners, Sheets offers a new way to work visually with data.
Canva is also building on its enterprise push. The company says more than 95% of the Fortune 500 already use its tools. According to Robert Kawalsky, Canva’s global head of product, enterprise customers have seen big gains in productivity. He points to FedEx, which reportedly cut its design review time by 77% using Canva.
Built on Flourish: Canva’s Data Visualization Powerhouse
The foundation of Canva Sheets’ visual storytelling power comes in part from Flourish, a UK-based data visualization startup Canva acquired in 2022. That technology now powers many of the spreadsheet’s dynamic features, offering rich, interactive charts and visual elements.
India Market Focus: Startups, Educators, and Local Partnerships
In addition to enterprise users, Canva is betting big on growth in markets like India, where adoption among startups, freelancers, and educators is on the rise. The company has already onboarded over 2,100 startups and partnered with 40 local organizations to grow its footprint. Education has also emerged as a promising segment, with more than 11,000 Indian educators currently part of Canva’s online community.
A New Kind of Spreadsheet for the Design-First Workplace
Though it’s still early days for the new product, Canva Sheets could find its niche among users who want powerful spreadsheet features without giving up creative control. And as part of Canva’s evolving Visual Suite, it could serve as the missing piece for teams looking to build, design, plan, and execute all in one place.
