Africa’s Threndx Launches Privacy-Focused Social Network That Pays You to Be You

Nigerian-Canadian tech startup Threndx Limited has launched a new social media platform that rewards users for being authentic. The app is now available on iOS and Android.

A New Kind of Platform

Threndx User Interface

Threndx promises to be different from most social networks. It claims not to rely on ads or exploit user data. Instead, it promises a user-first experience. The slogan “pays you to be you” also reflects its core idea: your time and content should earn value.

Who Is Behind Threndx?

The platform was founded by three experienced entrepreneurs:

  • Agbene Ejigah, who previously built Treals (an E-commerce platform built to empower Nigerian Businesses) and The Hunt(A Talent Discovery platform for artists), currently holds the CEO position.
  • Ijay Ojeifo, with a background in business development across the oil and tech sectors, is the Strategic Partnerships Lead.
  • Arun Ahir, a mechanical engineer and global investor, is the Global Expansion Strategist.

Together, they bring expertise from Africa, North America, and Asia.

What Does It Offer?

Threndx allows users to post in formats like photos, videos, audio, blogs, and short stories. It also supports communities, pages, and group content.

The platform is built for creative people. Writers, vloggers, podcasters, and casual users can all share freely. Its clean layout and flexible design make it easy to use.

How Does It Pay You?

Threndx’s reward system is built around engagement and originality.

  • When users post content, they earn points.
  • When others interact with that content (likes, comments, shares), those points increase.
  • Users can convert these points into cash, airtime, or partner discounts.
  • Verified creators and community builders may also access revenue-sharing models.

There is no advertising clutter. Instead, Threndx uses what it calls a “community value loop.” Content that sparks conversations and connects people becomes more valuable. The more authentic and active a user is, the more they earn.

This system, according to the founders, puts “the economic power of social media back in the hands of users.”

Focus on Privacy

Privacy is a key focus. The platform uses end-to-end encryption. It does not sell or share user data with third parties. There are no hidden tracking systems.

Unlike traditional platforms, Threndx does not use your data to sell ads. Your personal information stays private. That promise is central to its business model.

Why Now?

Social media is under pressure. Users are growing tired of invasive ads and algorithm-driven feeds. Many are seeking safer, more transparent platforms. Threndx steps into that gap.

By combining content freedom, user control, and financial rewards, the company believes it can shift how people connect online.

What’s Next for Threndx?

Threndx is currently onboarding creators across Nigeria and the wider African diaspora. It plans to expand features over the next six months, including live events, tipping, and NFT-based content ownership.

The team is also working on partnerships with artists, writers, and educators who want a fairer way to build an audience.
