The Namibia Business Angel Network struck a major sponsorship agreement with Bellatrix SME Finance that will pump fresh capital into the country’s early-stage business ecosystem. This partnership delivers N$150,000 annually through 2027 to accelerate local entrepreneurship.

Michael Thikusho from Bellatrix Green Impact Facility calls entrepreneur-led small businesses “the engine of inclusive growth.” The deal connects Bellatrix’s flexible finance solutions directly with NABAN’s angel-investor platform, creating faster access to capital for promising Namibian ventures.

NABAN Delivers Strong Track Record Since 2022 Launch

NABAN has already hosted 14 pitch events and five Startup Success Series editions since starting operations in 2022. The network brought together more than 1,200 participants and helped secure N$580,000 in angel investments for local startups.

The organization runs quarterly pitch events, startup education series, and AESIS Windhoek investor meetups. These programs connect founders with mentors, capital, and markets across Namibia’s growing business ecosystem.

Nguvitjita Kamenjono, NABAN committee member and angel investor, explains the partnership enables them to “scale programming, deepen mentorship, and expand access to capital pathways for Namibian entrepreneurs.”

Bellatrix Brings SME Financing Expertise to Partnership

Bellatrix SME Finance offers specialized financing for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises in Namibia. The company provides term loans, purchase order finance, and invoice discounting services tailored to business growth needs.

Bellatrix Investment Managers operates as a NAMFISA-licensed investment management firm focusing on alternative funds. The company targets high-yielding investments in early-stage businesses across Southern Africa.

Portfolio Manager Thikusho emphasizes their commitment to “backing founders early and staying with them for the long haul.” This approach aligns with NABAN’s mission to build sustainable startup success.

Three-Year Deal Expands Startup Support Programs

The partnership funding will support expanded programming beyond regular pitch events. Plans include investment readiness workshops, financing compliance training, and co-branded events to boost startup visibility among regional investors.

NABAN and Bellatrix will host joint investor meetups designed to grow the pipeline of investable ventures. The collaboration focuses on capacity-building through mentorship programs and investor engagement initiatives.

The agreement also increases access to flexible financing instruments specifically designed for growth-driven and impact-focused ventures. This addresses a key gap in Namibia’s startup funding space.

Partnership Targets Sustainable Economic Growth

Both organizations share a vision of transformative growth through smart capital deployment and strong entrepreneurial networks. The partnership intends to create more scalable and sustainable businesses that positively impact Namibia’s economic future.

NABAN’s community includes angel investors committed to supporting early-stage startups with capital, mentorship, and professional networks. The organization formed in 2022 to address funding gaps facing Namibian entrepreneurs.

The collaboration establishes Bellatrix Capital as NABAN’s anchor sponsor, providing stability for long-term program development. This partnership model could serve as a template for similar initiatives across Africa’s startup ecosystems.

Results from this three-year commitment will help determine the effectiveness of combining angel investment networks with specialized SME financing to accelerate startup growth in emerging markets.
